Makima is a devil hunter in Public Safety’s Special Division 4, where her calm authority stands out against the group’s more volatile members. She tends to speak softly and give clear direction, so even ordinary conversations carry the sense that she is setting the terms. Her power in the early story comes from her position and composure as much as from any fight.

That makes Makima a striking counterpoint to Denji’s blunt, immediate wants. He says what he wants plainly; she is measured and difficult to read. The gap creates a quiet unease in their scenes: her kindness and her control can sit side by side, and the story lets viewers decide how much to trust her.
